Crump is Founded
Edward Hull Crump establishes the E. H. Crump Insurance Company in 1920 in Memphis, Tennessee and it rapidly grew to become the largest insurance agency in the southern United States.
Products, Underwriting and Expertise Expands
Crump was wholesaling a variety of insurance products and supporting retail agents with its underwriting expertise and strong carrier relationships. Crump was later purchased by Marsh & McLennan.
BGA Boom
A proliferation of brokerage general agencies entered the market and eventually came together to form what would become Crump Life Insurance Services. Those businesses grew rapidly through the 1990s and significantly enhanced Crump’s scale and diversity.
The Crump Family of Brands
With an attractive combination of strong management processes and financial sophistication, Crump continued to reinforce the strength of its foundation and expand into other related markets with the TIME, RiskRighter and Tellus brands.
Crump Becomes Part of Truist
Truist purchases Crump from a private equity firm, building the organization’s significant strategic presence in insurance distribution. Increasing investments in Crump’s platforms and offerings contribute to Truist’s market position as one of the largest global insurance providers.
Building the Brokerage of the Future
Crump continues its significant investments in technology and innovation keeping the company on the forefront of providing best-in-class tools, solutions and services to insurance and financial institutions, professionals and their clients.
