1920

Crump is Founded

Edward Hull Crump established the E. H. Crump Insurance Company in 1920 in Memphis, Tennessee, and it rapidly grew to become the largest insurance agency in the southern United States.

1950s—1970s

Products, Underwriting, and Expertise Expands

Crump was wholesaling a variety of insurance products and supporting retail agents with its underwriting expertise and strong carrier relationships. Crump was later purchased by Marsh & McLennan.

1980s—1990s

BGA Boom

A proliferation of brokerage general agencies entered the market and eventually came together to form what would become Crump Life Insurance Services. Those businesses grew rapidly through the 1990s and significantly enhanced Crump’s scale and diversity.

2000—2010

The Crump Family of Brands

With an attractive combination of strong management processes and financial sophistication, Crump continued to reinforce the strength of its foundation and expand into other related markets with the TIME, RiskRighter, and Tellus brands.

2012

Crump Becomes Part of Truist

Truist purchases Crump from a private equity firm, building the organization’s significant strategic presence in insurance distribution. Increasing investments in Crump’s platforms and offerings contribute to Truist’s market position as one of the largest global insurance providers.
